ACSI CampingCard 2024 - save big in the low season

Are you also not a fan of paying a lot of money for overnight stays at the campsite? Stupid question! Who is that? There are various discount cards with which you can get considerable discounts at some campsites.

In this article I would like to introduce you to the ACSI CampingCard, one of the discount cards. I also took advantage of this little green card during my winter stay in Sardinia and was delighted with the discount. Here you will find the most important answers about the ACSI CampingCard.

What does “ACSI” mean and what is behind it?

ACSI is organized by the “Auto Camper Service International“. Dutchman Ed van Reine founded this company in 1965 to make it easier for camping enthusiasts to plan their vacation. Since then, the company has been selling its popular ACSI travel guides on the “Eurocampings” website. In 1999, the ACSI Card finally came into play.

How does the ACSI CampingCard work?

As already mentioned, the ACSI CampingCard is a discount card with which you can save money at over 3,000 campsites throughout Europe. And not just a little! To be precise, an advantage of up to 60 % can be achieved.

If you purchase the corresponding travel guide with all participating campsites listed for the respective country or continent, the ACSI CampingCard is included.

The ACSI Card is worthwhile for stays of four nights or more. If you are heading for one of these campsites or pitches, you should make sure you are traveling at the “right” time – because the ACSI CampingCard is only valid in the low season. If you then show your completed, valid ACSI Card, the overnight stay will cost you and a companion just EUR 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 or 27, depending on the pitch. Accordingly, there are 8 different discount tariffs.

Another advantage: In any case, you pay less than the lowest overnight price without an ACSI CampingCard. For example, if the lowest price is EUR 30 per night, you still only pay EUR 21 with the ACSI CampingCard.

How often and when is a new ACSI CampingCard published?

A new edition of the ACSI travel guide is published once a year in the fall. The new ACSI CampingCard is launched at the same time as the pitch/campsite guides and the validity of the old card expires at the end of the year. The travel guide for the coming year is available at the ACSI stands at camping fairs from the middle of the year. However, you can only order it online in late fall. Why not at the start of the season – I’ll come to that in a moment.

When is the ACSI CampingCard valid?

The ACSI CampingCard is valid in spring and fall/winter – specifically from mid-January to mid-June and from mid-September to mid-December. As is the case with many beautiful things, the ACSI CampingCard also has a small catch.

If the ACSI CampingCard were valid all year round, campsite operators would make huge losses. The card is therefore not aimed at seasonal vacationers, but at those who can and want to go on vacation in the low season, regardless of school vacations or company vacations.

During the main summer months, the ACSI-CampingCard unfortunately offers you no advantages and can safely remain in your glove compartment. The exact times of the low and shoulder seasons change by a few days from year to year. In addition, the campsites decide individually in which period within the low season they grant discounts with the ACSI card.

I therefore recommend that you check the current season times in advance and also always check the validity period and discount amount for each individual campsite you are planning before you submit your next vacation for the low season. Don’t be too early with your ACSI CampingCard and your bill won’t add up at the end of your vacation. It’s better to check beforehand whether your favorite vacation destination really lets you save money.

What does the CampingCard ACSI include?

The ACSI CampingCard includes a whole lot! Personally, I was very surprised at what it brings with it:

  1. Pitch: It doesn’t matter whether you arrive with a car + tent, a car + caravan and awning or your motorhome with awning. Exception: With the ACSI CampingCard you are not entitled to a luxury or comfort pitch if the selected campsite makes a difference.
  2. Stay of 2 adults: If there are more than 2 people, the campsite operator can decide whether to give everyone the pitch at the ACSI price or whether to charge all additional people a surcharge or the regular price.
  3. Power connection: this has a maximum of 6A and you can use up to 4kWh per day.
  4. Hot shower: If the selected campsite works with shower tokens, each adult is entitled to one token per day. If the showers use 50 cent coins or SepKeys, you must consult the groundsman.
  5. A dog: No, of course you don’t get a dog for free as an ACSI Card holder! But if dogs are allowed on the chosen pitch, you can take a four-legged friend with you without having to pay extra for them.

In which countries are there ACSI campsites?

The top 5 most popular ACSI destinations:

  • #1 – France with a whopping 1,387 cooperating campsites
  • # 2 – Netherlands with 335 cooperating campsites
  • # 3 – Italy with 311 cooperating campsites
  • # 4 – Spain with 258 cooperating campsites
  • # 5 – Germany with 209 cooperating campsites

But that is by no means all of them. There are around 7,500 campsites in a total of 31 European countries that accept the ACSI Campingcard. So you have plenty of leeway when choosing your destination. The countries of Albania and Montenegro, where campsites were inspected for the first time last year, are new.

Where can I buy the ACSI CampingCard?

The CampingCard ACSI can be purchased individually or in conjunction with the ACSI Pitch and Camping Guide. There are numerous providers of the map on the Internet , including Amazon, the ACSI webshop and camping outfitters. There is hardly any difference in price between the offers. You can also order the latest travel guide including ACSI Card in bookshops.

However, you will soon see that there are different versions of camping guides. It’s not easy to keep track of everything.

Where can you get the ACSI CampingCard and how much does it cost?

As mentioned above, the ACSI Camping Card is included in some camping guides. However, there are different camping guides and also different (price) models. The prices differ depending on whether you have a subscription or a single issue, and whether you need access to the app or not. I would like to introduce you to the various options below.

ACSI Club Membership

In the following, membership is mentioned again and again. The ACSI Club ID costs 5.95 euros per year. It offers you easier check-in thanks to stored data (ID replacement) and liability insurance. There is also a discount on the ACSI pitch and camping guide.

Which ACSI camping guides are suitable for whom?

To add to the confusion, there are also different camping guides. Which ACSI camping guide is for whom?

ACSI Camping Guide Germany

The ACSI Camping Guide Germany contains 2,380 annually inspected campsites in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. This campsite guide is primarily aimed at campers with tents, caravans and tent trailers and motorhome owners who like to stay overnight on campsites.

The ACSI Camping Guide Germany costs €20.95 for members and €21.95 for non-members; access to the app costs extra. A subscription to the ACSI Camping Guide Germany costs €16.95 (with ACSI ID) or €17.95 (without ACSI ID) and you will automatically receive your freshly printed copy every year around Christmas time. However, the term of a subscription is at least 2 years.

ACSI Camping Guide Europe

The ACSI Camping Guide Europe includes more than 7,500 participating campsites in 31 countries. This is also primarily aimed at campers with tents, caravans and tent trailers as well as motorhome owners who like to stay overnight on campsites.

The ACSI Camping Guide Europe costs €24.95 for members and €26.95 for non-members; access to the app costs extra. A subscription to the Camping Guide Europe costs €22.95 for non-members and €20.95 for members, and you will automatically receive your freshly printed copy every year around Christmas time. The term of a subscription is at least 2 years.

ACSI CampingCard & Pitch guide for motorhomes

If you are traveling with a motorhome or van and like to visit motorhome pitches, you will certainly be interested in the ACSI pitch guide. In addition to the more than 3,000 participating campsites (as in the camping guide), you will find an overview of 9,000 motorhome sites in Europe here.

The camping and pitch guide is therefore primarily aimed at campers with motorhomes. When you buy the ACSI CampingCard and Pitch Guide, you can choose between 3 different languages (German, Dutch and French). The cost of the ACSI CampingCard and Pitch Guide is €37.93 for members, €39.93 for non-members, and access to the app with campsites AND pitches costs €9.98 extra. A subscription to the ACSI CampingCard & Pitch Guide costs €33.93 for members and €35.93 for non-members, and you will automatically receive your freshly printed copy every year around Christmas time.

The term of a subscription is at least 2 years. If you would like to have access to the ACSI app with all campsites and pitches, you will pay an additional €9.98 on top of the above fees.

Subscription or single issue

You already know ACSI and are sure that you want to buy the camping guide and discount card again next year? Then a subscription is clearly worthwhile. With the combined subscription, you will automatically receive the ACSI CampingCard including the desired guide every year – with or without access to the app, depending on your choice.

ASCI Apps

Do you like traveling digitally and don’t necessarily have to leaf through a book to find the right camping guide? Then you should take a look at the three different ACSI apps. You can book these for from €0.99 (ACSI Camping Europe app), from €3.49 (ACSI GreatLittleCampsites app) or from €3.99 (ACSI CampingCard app).

An additional package with over 9,000 parking spaces is also available for all three apps.

Find campsites that accept the ACSI Card

A total of 33 countries are home to at least one campsite where you can take advantage of your ACSI benefits. There are over 9,400 campsites from all camping guides on www.eurocampings.de. At www.CampingCard.com you will find all of the approximately 3,000 campsites that participate in the ACSI CampingCard discount program. Here you can also check whether your desired country or campsite is included.

The ACSI apps at a glance

There are a total of 3 ASCI apps that offer numerous advantages:

  • ACSI Camping Europe app
  • ACSI Great little Campsite app
  • ACSI CampingCard app

Let’s take a brief look at the individual apps:

ACSI Camping Europe app

Above all, the ACSI Camping Europa app offers the greatest scope. This app contains more than 9,300 campsites in Europe. However, this does not mean that these campsites all accept your ACSI Card. A major advantage: it can be used without an Internet connection.

You get free updates with changes and new campsite ratings and can use the app on three devices at the same time.

Depending on your needs, you can choose between a monthly, three-monthly or annual subscription.

ACSI Great Little Campsites app

The ACSI Great Little Campsites app contains 1,900 small, cozy campsites that are inspected annually and can be expanded with information on 9,000 inspected motorhome pitches. Free updates with changes and new campsite ratings are also included here. The app can also be used offline.

The package with all campsite information costs €2.99, while you have to pay €8.99 for the package with all camping and pitch information.

CampingCard ACSI App 2024

The CampingCard ACSI App 2024 contains information on more than 3,000 CampingCard ACSI campsites and can be expanded with information on 9,000 controlled motorhome pitches.

Important: The CampingCard ACSI App 2024 is only available in combination with an ACSI camping guide.

Is the ACSI app worth it?

So what is the big advantage over the conventional travel guide? All three apps have a number of search filters that make it easy to find the perfect campsite for you. A really great function that complements the travel guide perfectly.

Another important point is that the apps also work offline. Maps, pre-planned routes and campsite information can be accessed even in the middle of nowhere without the Internet.

You can also easily read and leave reviews. This makes it easier for you and others to find and select a suitable campsite. Your mobile operating system does not play a major role here. The apps are available for Android, Windows and iOS.

►► Important information The CampingCard ACSI app, i.e. all campsite information, is only available if you also have an ACSI card. Otherwise you will have to choose one of the other two apps. You can find all information about the individual apps here. On the back of your ACSI CampingCard you will find a procurement code that you can use to activate the campsite and pitch information. As soon as the content has been released to you, you can use the app for one calendar year, i.e. from January 1 to December 31. At the start of the new year, your access will be blocked and you will have to reactivate the content with your new ACSI Card.

Are there alternatives or supplements to the ACSI Card?

ACSI is of course not the only provider of camping discount cards. In our camping map overview you will find a practical comparison of the most important camping maps. Here you can find more articles about advantage cards for campers:

Conclusion on the ACSI CampingCard

Personally, I think the ACSI Card and the accompanying travel guide are great! However, in my opinion, it is only worthwhile for you if you take several vacations a year that fall within the low season or if you often only go to the campsite for the weekend. If this is the case, the ACSI CampingCard 2024 is an absolute must in your glove compartment! The savings are considerable and will definitely make a difference to your travel budget in the long term. I hope I have been able to give you a better understanding of the ACSI Card in this article and make your decision for or against the discount card a little easier. Have a safe journey and a great experience!
