Today I would like to talk about a topic that fits perfectly with our lifestyle as campers: Wellness and relaxation. And what could be better than combining the healing power of nature with a visit to a thermal spa?

So there are many reasons why a trip to a spa should be an absolute must for every motorhome or caravan owner. In this article, we take a look at some of them and present spas and wellness oases throughout Germany – including campsite recommendations.

Reasons for wellness while camping

The peace and quiet that you find in wellness oases are just the right thing to switch off. There are now numerous campsites that have invested heavily in wellness and spa facilities. The most popular treatments for personal well-being are offered there.

1. Muscle relaxation and pain relief: Driving for hours on end can lead to tension and pain. The warm thermal water in the pools of a spa helps to loosen muscles and relieve pain.
2. Health benefits: Thermal baths are not only good for the soul, but also for the body. Mineral-rich water can nourish the skin, improve circulation and even strengthen the immune system.
3. A break from everyday life: life on the campsite is exciting, but sometimes hectic. A bathing day is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all and take some time for yourself. Whether alone or with family and friends, a break in a thermal spa is a welcome change for everyone.

Spas in Baden-Württemberg

Mineral thermal baths in Böblingen

The town of Böblingen offers a spa that has repeatedly been among the top 10 in recent years. With natural thermal water full of healing powers, you can relax and bathe in two outdoor pools, an indoor pool and a relaxation and sound pool. The sauna area with six saunas, sauna garden and wellness treatments is also impressive.

As there are no campsites in the Böblingen area, the Mineraltherme Böblingen is only available to campers, who can find a free parking space at the Zimmerschlag leisure facility in Böblingen from April to October.

Another parking space for motorhomes is located in Feldbergstraße in 71134 Aidlingen, with a wonderful view of the Venusberg, which gave the parking space its name: Wohnmobil Stellplatz am Venusberg.

Miramar in Weinheim

In the north-west of Baden-Württemberg, the Miramar in Weinheim is a special relaxation oasis for sauna enjoyment, bathing fun and fantastic thermal bathing. In addition to a wellness area with various pools filled with thermal brine from the hotel’s own well and surrounded by precious stones, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Waidsee.

The spa has a rose quartz and amethyst pool, an outdoor crystal pool and an outdoor vital salt pool with different brine levels. There is also a fireplace lounge, an Amethyst Lounge with medical treatments, daily aqua aerobics and a total of 1,500 meters of slides.

Campsite Wiesensee

The Wiesensee campsite in Hemsbach an der Bergstraße is located at the foot of the Odenwald. The site, which is open all year round and boasts almond trees in bloom in early spring, has direct access to a bathing lake, a swimming pool, a playground and the “WeinZeit” restaurant.

The Wiesensee campsite is open all year round, so a camping trip in the fall or winter with a wellness day is also possible. The Miramar thermal spa is around 8 km from the campsite.

Camping Park Hammelbach

With 35 parceled-out tourist pitches, Camping Park Hammelbach in Grasellenbach, Hesse, is a destination that even has some wellness offers in its program.

A wellness oasis with sauna, steam bath, solarium and hydromassage is just as much a part of the feel-good program as relaxation in the conservatory and cooling off in the landscaped outdoor area with plunge pool and sunbathing lawn.

Hammelbach Camping Park is about 30 km from Miramar and is open from April 1 to October 31.

Caravan site Ladenburg

The Ladenburg motorhome site is open all year round and offers space for 52 motorhomes. The supply and disposal system, which is heated in winter, and the power supply guarantee a self-sufficient stay here.

The Miramar thermal spa is around 12 km away. You can also plan wonderful city trips from here, e.g. to Heidelberg, which is also 12 km away, or Mannheim, which is around 16 km away.

Carolingian city of Lorsch

The Karolingerstadt Lorsch motorhome site is idyllically situated on the outskirts of the town. It offers space for 30 motorhomes all year round and has a waste disposal station as well as water and electricity connections.

It is not possible to reserve a space and the maximum length of stay is limited to five days. Due to a defect, payment is currently only possible in coins, the card payment option is not available.

The pitch is located around 19 km from the Miramar thermal spa.

Bathing paradise in the Black Forest

At Badeparadies Schwarzwald in Titisee-Neustadt , guests can immerse themselves in three worlds of well-being, as there are unique worlds of experience and relaxation such as the adventure pool with slides, the palm oasis with a pool bar and the Palais Vital with saunas and water worlds. Over 300 real palm trees create a natural ambience. Massages and wellness packages are also on offer.

Campsite Bühlhof

The Bühlhof campsite in Hinterzarten is open from March to October and offers spacious pitches with a wonderful view of Lake Titisee. A bread roll service is available for holidaymakers with a tent, camper van or caravan. And even travelers without their own home will find comfortable accommodation in the Black Forest huts.

The Titisee bathing paradise is only about 5 km away. Please note that the campsite is on winter break until March 28, 2025.

Camping Weiherhof

The Naturcamping Weiherhof in Hinterzarten has 160 pitches. The location with direct access to the lake is attractive. The course is open from May 1 to October 31 each year. In addition to pitches and tent pitches, there are also vacation apartments and houses as well as a small restaurant in the boathouse.

Motorhome parking space

Located right next to the thermal baths, the motorhome site in Parkstraße in Titisee-Neustadt is the right address for travelers who want to visit the thermal baths with their motorhome.

Carcalla Therme in Baden-Baden

The 5-star spa resort offers a varied water and sauna landscape on 4,000 m² in the spa district, which immediately invites you to feel good. The complex, which is reminiscent of an ancient temple, conceals various water areas, including thermal pools with unique, mineral-rich thermal water from twelve springs with temperatures of up to 68 °C. The Roman-style sauna area rounds off the relaxation experience.

There are no campsites in the region, but the parking space in 76593 Gernsbach, Klingelstraße 1 is recommended as a motorhome parking space on the Murginsel.

Also located in Gernsbach at Schwimmbad 1 is the Obertsrot motorhome site, which offers space for approx. 40 motorhomes up to 10 m in length.

Thermen- und Badewelt Sinsheim

The award-winning Thermen- und Badewelt Sinsheim is located in the heart of the Kraichgau region and is one of the leading spas in Baden-Württemberg. The complex transports visitors to a tropical paradise with palm trees, the idyllic “Paradise Beach” thermal beach and a spacious “VitalTherme” with numerous saunas. In summer, the outdoor area of Therme Sinsheim shines in all its glory.

The sun loungers on the sandy beach create a vacation feeling by the sea and invite you to relax and unwind. In addition to numerous water attractions and fun pools, the facility also offers retreats for quiet moments. The spacious and varied sauna area invites you to linger. In the Vitaltherme, there is an age limit of 16 years and over due to the fact that no textiles are worn.

The Sinsheim region is also undersupplied with campsites. For motorhomes and caravans, we therefore recommend the Sinsheim motorhome park, Ilvesbach 6, which is open all year round and offers 34 large pitches, a sanitary building, supply and disposal facilities and a bistro. However, if you arrive with a caravan, you must park the towing vehicle outside.

Spas in Bavaria

Fürthermare in Fürth

The adventure spa in the Nuremberg metropolitan region has developed significantly since 2022 and is now one of the leading spas in the region. The sauna area impresses with eleven different saunas and steam baths that provide a variety of relaxation options.

In the spa landscape, six different indoor and outdoor pools with temperatures between 32 and 37 degrees invite you to relax and unwind.

Campsite zur Mühle

The zur Mühle campsite in Zirndorf is open all year round. The parceled-out pitches have their own electricity, water and waste water connections. A central supply and disposal station is available for mobile homes.

Motorhome parking space

Also in Zirndorf, Am Steinacker 5, is the Playmobil-Funpark caravan site, which does not have any supply and disposal facilities.

Therme Erding in Erding

With a total area of 430,000 m² and a usable area of 185,000 m², the spa is the largest wellness oasis in the world and offers a wide range of varied activities for holidaymakers and those seeking relaxation. A huge wave pool and Europe’s largest slide world with 27 slides await you in the textile area of the thermal spa and adventure pool.

For classic wellness and relaxation, there is the VitalOase (textile, from 16 years) and the VitalTherme (textile-free, from 16 years) with a total of 28 saunas. The bath is fed with water containing fluoride and sulphur from the Ardeo healing spring below the spa. It is no coincidence that Therme Erding successfully defended its top position in Travelcircus ‘ 2024 thermal spa ranking.

The motorhome site right next to the thermal baths promises a short break between the South Seas and Bavarian culture. It is open all year round and offers 55 spacious pitches measuring 6 m x 10 m on a generous area of 8,000 m². The park is part of the“Gersthof” farm, where you can also experience real organic farming.

Rottal Terme in Bad Birnbach

A visit to the rural bathing oasis with over 2,400 m² of thermal water offers pure relaxation. At 70° C , the thermal spa in the Bavarian spa triangle is one of the hottest in Europe. Here you can bathe in over 30 pleasantly warm thermal water pools with temperatures ranging from 26 to 40 °C and try out 13 different saunas and steam baths.

The thermal spa and sauna world with the longest thermal stream in Europe, a rain sauna, the healthy brine lagoon, the extravagant steam pyramid or the special salt stone grotto turn a visit into a short break. In the therapy pool, you can experience all aspects of the latest treatments, from aqua aerobics and physiotherapy to classic massages and effective preventative measures.

Nature Terrace Camping Theresienhof

The Natur-Terrassencamping Theresienhof is a small campsite in Bad Birnbach with approx. 19 large, parceled-out sun and shade pitches with electricity, water and waste water connections. The campsite is surrounded by an idyllic landscape with cycling and hiking trails, a swimming lake and a golf course.

Kur-Gutshof-Camping-Arterhof

The Kur-Gutshof-Camping-Arterhof has 200 pitches in various categories, state-of-the-art sanitary facilities, private rental bathrooms, TV reception, W-LAN, motorhome port, farm store, hairdresser, car wash area and much more.

You also have free access to wellness facilities such as the outdoor thermal pool with original Bad Birnbach healing water, indoor pool with massage lagoon, fitness room and INNATURA leisure center with a 500 m² natural bathing lake. There is also a bathing bus to the Rottal Terme and a varied fitness program.

Vital CAMP Bayerbach

Vital CAMP Bayerbach is a five-star wellness and vacation resort in neighboring Bayerbach. Here you can choose between Panorama Camping, Nature Camp, vacation homes, apartments and chalets, all of which are equipped with a great deal of comfort and closeness to nature.

There is also an indoor thermal pool, a sauna area, a beauty salon, a physiotherapy practice, a family restaurant, a camper bistro and a playground.

Bad Wörishofen thermal baths

The Bad Wörishofen thermal spa is located in the heart of the Allgäu and the place where Pastor Kneipp worked. Real palm trees and pleasant water temperatures create a relaxed atmosphere for visitors aged 16 and over. The state-approved thermal healing water is rich in valuable minerals and therefore a true source of health.

Various vitality pools enriched with brine, sulphur and iodine-selenium, a wide range of wellness facilities and an impressive sauna landscape with over 15 themed saunas provide just as much variety as thundering waterfalls for a refreshing cool-down.

Kur- und Vitalcamping Bad Wörishofen

The Kur- und Vitalcamping Bad Wörishofen is located in the immediate vicinity of the thermal baths: a quiet and idyllic campsite on the edge of the spa town with pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents in the countryside as well as two double rooms.

Electricity and water connections, clean sanitary facilities, washing machine/dryer, supply and disposal station. Kneipp treatments, massages, physiotherapy and wellness treatments are also offered directly on the site.

Motorhome parking space

Right next to the thermal baths, the spacious motorhome parking area offers 50 paved pitches with electricity and a view of an idyllic stream.

Sybillenbad Neualbenreuth

Sybillenbad is the only spa resort in the Upper Palatinate, adjacent to the world-famous spas of Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně in the Bohemian spa triangle. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Fichtelgebirge, it offers peace and relaxation.

The baths are fed by two healing springs, the Sibyllenquelle and the Katharinenquelle. In addition to a medical department, the spa has an impressive range of wellness facilities. The medicinal water spa offers a variety of indoor and outdoor mineral baths as well as an extensive sauna area that promises pure relaxation.

The Platzermühle campsite is located near the spa town of Bad Neualbenreuth, surrounded by green meadows and forests and is open all year round. It offers pitches for motorhomes and caravans as well as various rental accommodations such as sleeping barrels. The pitches with electricity, water and drainage connections are laid out in terraces and offer a wonderful view.

The campsite also includes a motorhome port for 36 motorhomes, which is located directly at the Sybillenbad. In addition to electricity and water connections, gas bottle exchange is also possible here and a bread roll service adds to the convenience.

Obermain Therme in Bad Staffelstein

Adventure pools, saltwater pools, steam baths, spacious sunbathing lawns and the multi-award-winning SaunaLand with 11 saunas offer pure relaxation here in Upper Franconia. The wellness offer is rounded off by healthy pampering experiences with various therapies and massages.

Spa campsite Bad Staffelstein

The Bad Staffelstein spa campsite is located between the bathing lake and Riedsee directly by the thermal baths. It offers a wide range of water sports such as swimming, sailing, surfing and fishing. The campsite has 250 pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes with electricity, water and drainage connections. The sanitary facilities are handicapped accessible.

Motorhome parking space

The caravan site for 27 caravans is directly adjacent to the thermal baths. The parking spaces are between 9 and 14 meters long and 5 meters wide, so that even larger vehicles can be accommodated. The pitches are equipped with supply columns, a waste disposal station and a water withdrawal point are also available.

KissSalis Therme Bad Kissingen

The Therme Unterfranken covers a generous area of over 8,000 m². In addition to 10 indoor and outdoor pools with over 1,000 m² of water, there are whirlpools, hot and cold pools and an intensive brine and Kneipp treading pool for relaxing moments.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of hydrotherapeutic treatments. A glass steam bath, brine inhalation and a mud room are available to strengthen the immune system and support the respiratory tract.

In the SaunaPark, nine different saunas with refreshing infusions provide relaxation and revitalization. In the wellness pavilion, guests can choose from a variety of beauty and cosmetic treatments, massages and full-body wraps to pamper body and soul.

The KNAUS Campingpark Bad Kissingen with 100 pitches is located directly opposite the beautiful Kurpark in the immediate vicinity of the town center, partly framed by the Saale river. It is suitable for caravans and motorhomes as well as for tents.

Thermal baths in Berlin

The Vabali SPA in Berlin offers a place of relaxation in the middle of the city, where body, mind and soul come to rest. It has an Indonesian ambience and a spacious wellness area with a 50 square meter indoor pool, a large heated outdoor pool and three relaxation pools.

Tropical Islands in Krausnick

Tropical Island has a constant temperature of 26 °C and a humidity of 40 to 60 %. The centerpiece is the world’s largest indoor rainforest, surrounded by a beach and lush tropical vegetation. SaarowTherme in Bad Saarow

The SaarowTherme offers a time-out at Scharmützelsee. The water temperature in the indoor and outdoor areas of the spa is a pleasant 36 °C. Freshwater pools and whirlpools are available for relaxation.

In the sauna area, there are Finnish saunas as well as a bio sauna and a cinema sauna , and to top it all off, the snow shower promises a refreshing feeling. From the cozy roof terraces and relaxation rooms you can enjoy a panoramic view over the spa gardens and Lake Scharmützelsee.

Natural thermal baths in Templin

One of the oldest brine spas in Brandenburg and the Uckermark offers a variety of baths, including brine, alkaline and crystal baths. The extensive wellness facilities also include a sauna area with various saunas and steam baths.

In addition, the spa offers a wide range of treatments such as massages, therapeutic baths, cosmetics and wellness programs, which are tailored to the needs of the guests and offer them an unforgettable experience.

Motorhome parking space

The hotel’s own caravan site is located directly next to the thermal baths and is equipped with electricity connections, separate supply and disposal facilities and toilet containers. In addition to free WLAN hotspots, a gas and bread roll service is also available.

Campsite at the Fährsee

Situated in the middle of beautiful nature, directly on the Fährsee, the campsite at the Fährsee – Templin has 100 comfortable pitches. The campsite has two bathing areas, a children’s playground and breakfast service at reception.

Thermal baths in Hamburg

The Bartholomäus-Therme thermal baths in Hamburg offer 12 x 22 m of relaxing swimming in 34 °C warm water. Two bubble loungers and numerous massage jets invite you to linger and relax.

In the eucalyptus steam bath at 45 °C you can feel the soothing effect of the steam, while relaxation is the order of the day in the flower steam bath at 40 °C. The sauna area of the Bartholomäus-Therme is a highlight with a 100 °C fireplace sauna and a Roman sweat bath. Taunus Therme in Bad Homburg

The spa is a must for all spa lovers. With its Far Eastern architecture, bridges, small islands and waterfalls as well as the magnificent water landscape, it offers a unique atmosphere. With over 1,400 square meters of water, whirlpools and outdoor pools, the spa is a place to feel good.

Attached to the reception is a small store for drinks, small snacks and fresh bread rolls every day. Soltau Therme in Soltau

The state-approved Soltau healing spring offers health-promoting brine in a 265 square meter indoor pool, where bubble loungers, floor jets, massage jets and waterfall showers provide relaxation.

Otherwise, a varied outdoor pool offers swimming fun for the whole family. The sauna area extends over the indoor and outdoor areas with plunge pool, sauna garden and sun deck. Infusions and relaxation ceremonies are also offered.

Camping Röders’ Park

Camping Röders’ Park in Soltau offers a total of 120 pitches, from open pitches by the pond to cozy alcoves by the moor.

The pitches have water and electricity, an area of approx. 100 m² and comfortably furnished, barrier-free sanitary facilities. A restaurant right on the square rounds off the offer.

Camping site “Auf dem Simpel”

The “Auf dem Simpel” campsite in Soltau offers comfortable pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents.

Trendy heath lodges, shepherd’s wagons and Schnuckenbuden are also available as rental accommodation. Services include outdoor catering, a self-service store, an outdoor pool and a children’s playground.

Sole-Therme in Bad Harzburg

The bathing area of the Sole-Therme Bad Harzburg has a medicinal spring pool with 31 °C pure natural brine and a whirlpool with 32 °C for relaxing moments. The outdoor pool is equipped with a current channel and massage jets.

Vulkaneifel thermal baths in Bad Bertrich

The Vulkaneifel Therme is the only Glauber’s salt spa in Germany . Thuringian thermal baths in Mühlhausen

The spa offers numerous water and wellness facilities. This includes a large sports pool with a counter-current system, a wave pool, a 3-meter tower and a 75-meter-long giant slide for the adventurous.

Especially for children, there is a 31-degree water play garden with an elephant slide and bubbling spring. The sauna area includes various saunas such as lemon and infusion saunas as well as log cabin and fireplace saunas and an Irish-Roman steam bath at 47°.

Campsite at the swan pond

Toskana Therme Bad Sulza

The 3,000 square meter spa is a spacious bathing area with eleven thermal pools, including five brine cascade pools with massage jets and waterspouts as well as four whirlpools, three of which are enriched with brine. A special highlight is the Liquid Sound Temple, which enables 360° projections and offers an intense experience of music and light in the water.

The sauna area extends over 3,000 square meters and offers six different saunas, a steam bath and two relaxation rooms. Highlights are the panorama sauna with regular infusions at 90 °C and the brine rock grotto with a view of nature and dry brine mist at 35 °C.
