In Poland, the toll obligation differs according to the total weight of the vehicle: on publicly financed freeways, vehicles up to 3.5 tons are toll-free, while vehicles and combinations over 3.5 tons are subject to tolls, as are expressways and federal highways. On privately financed highways, all vehicles pay tolls.
In addition, the toll rates for vehicles and combinations weighing more than 3.5 tons in the e-TOLL system, i.e. on publicly financed freeways, were increased by a good 3 percent in the new year. Two different toll rates apply for vehicles over 3.5 tons and vehicles with a gross weight of more than 12 tons.
