Ankaravan Eco 350 (2027): Mini caravan for 4 people with bunk beds for €16,000

Prefer us on Google

Four sleeping spots, a bathroom, 100 liters of water — all on a body length of just 3.50 meters for 16,000 euros. The Ankaravan Eco 350 is the bigger sibling of the Ankaravan Mini 270 and comes with bunk beds. We took a closer look at the model and crunched the numbers to see who this family mini is worth it for. And where it falls short.

Who's behind the Ankaravan Eco 350?

The Eco 350 is built by ANKARAVAN Karavan A.Ş. in Akyurt near Ankara. In Germany, it's sold by ANKER Caravan from Berlin. The dealer is young and (still) small, with its sales location in Dahlewitz, south of Berlin. In Turkey, the Eco 350 has already been on the market since 2025, but it's new for Germany.

The dimensions: short, but with full standing height

  • Body length: 3.50 m (5.00 m including drawbar)

  • Width: 2.00 m

  • Height: 2.45 m, interior standing height 1.90 m

  • Frame: hot-dip galvanized steel

What does that mean in practice? At 5 meters, the Eco 350 is about as long as a mid-size estate car. When hitched to your car, the whole rig needs two parking spaces end to end. The drawbar, by the way, is the bar at the front that connects to the tow hitch.

At 2.45 meters tall, it won't fit into a standard garage with around 2 meters of clearance. It might be tight under a carport, too.

Floor plan: seating area up front, bunk beds in the back

The floor plan is a family classic. The seating area sits at the front. In the evening, you convert it into a bed measuring 130 × 194 centimeters. At the back, there are two bunk beds measuring 60 × 194 centimeters each. The kitchen and bathroom sit in between.

130 centimeters is tight for two adults — narrower than a standard double bed at 140 centimeters. The bunk beds, at 60 centimeters wide, are really meant for kids. Thanks to their 194-centimeter length, though, they also work for teenagers.

Kitchen: electric cooking, generous fridge

According to the German website, it comes with an electric cooktop, a sink with a chrome-look faucet, and a 90-liter fridge running on 12 volts. That's a compressor fridge, like the kind found in a car cooler box. It runs off the onboard battery and doesn't need gas.

You can only use the electric cooktop when connected to shore power. Shore power means the caravan is plugged via cable into the campsite's power box, usually with the blue CEE connector.

Note: The Turkish manufacturer's website instead lists a two-burner gas stove with a small gas bottle for the full package. Before buying, make sure to check exactly which cooktop is installed in your specific unit.

Bathroom and water

On board: a 100-liter fresh water tank with external fill point, a 12-volt water pump, an outdoor shower, a washbasin, and a "toilet, imported model." The website doesn't specify exactly what kind of toilet this is. A permanently installed cassette toilet costs an extra 579 euros net. With a cassette toilet, you pull the waste tank out from the outside and empty it at the disposal station.

Hot water is only available with the water heater, which costs an extra 522 euros net. A water heater is a small boiler that heats water for the washbasin and shower. You'll find more compact models with bathroom facilities in our overview of small caravans with toilet and shower.

A word of caution on the water: 100 liters sounds like comfort. But a full tank also weighs 100 kilos. For this model, that's a real problem — more on that in a moment.

Technology and self-sufficiency

A solar system and a 220-volt connection with cable come as standard. The dealer doesn't specify the wattage of the solar panels or the battery capacity for the standard version.

Self-sufficiency means you can get by for a while without shore power, say at a pitch with no power outlet. If that's what you're after, go for one of the solar packages. They cost between 785 and 1,346 euros net.

These packages include a battery with 100 to 200 amp-hours (Ah) and an inverter. The inverter converts the battery's 12 volts into 230 volts for the power outlet. The website doesn't say whether it's a lithium battery. Lithium batteries are lighter than conventional lead-acid batteries and can be discharged more deeply.

According to the German price list, a diesel heater costs €299 net. It runs off a small diesel tank and heats without gas. The better Maxel 100 insulation costs €422 net. According to the Turkish manufacturer, both are included in the Full Package. You should clarify this before buying too.

Chassis: AL-KO and braked

Axle, overrun device, jockey wheel, wheels and four support legs all come from supplier AL-KO.

Here's how the overrun brake works: when the car brakes, the caravan pushes forward via the drawbar. This pressure activates the caravan's brakes, with no cables involved. An anti-snaking coupling dampens the trailer's swaying. It costs an extra €611 net. With a lightweight tow vehicle, we'd always get it.

Weight, payload and tow vehicle: this is where it gets tight

This is the most important section. The dealer states an unladen weight of 880 kilos, which "varies depending on the package." The maximum allowed is 1,000 kilos — that's the permissible gross weight. That leaves, on paper, 120 kilos for luggage.

What fits into that? A full 100-liter water tank alone weighs 100 kilos. Add clothing for four people, dishes, food, camping chairs and maybe an awning tent. With just 120 kilos, a family can only make it work if they travel with a nearly empty tank. Heavy items then have to go in the car. We explain how to pack sensibly in our guide How to load a caravan correctly.

On top of that: for series-produced caravans, the actual weight may deviate from the catalog figure by up to 5 percent. That's set out in EU Implementing Regulation 2021/535. At 880 kilos, that's up to 44 kilos more. Have the caravan weighed at handover.

The comparison shows the problem: the Fendt NEXT 381 also has a permissible gross weight of 1,000 kilos. But ready to drive, it weighs only 808 kilos. That leaves 192 kilos of payload. However, it costs from €19,350.

Which driving license do I need?

With a Class B license, you're only allowed to tow a trailer over 750 kilos if the car and trailer together have a permissible gross weight of no more than 3,500 kilos. That's the rule set by the German Automobile Club (ADAC). For the Eco 350, that means your car may have a permissible gross weight of no more than 2,500 kilos. Otherwise you need code B96 for combinations up to 4,250 kilos, or a Class BE license.

Noseweight: does my car fit?

The noseweight is the weight with which the drawbar presses down on the tow bar. According to the dealer, it's 75 to 100 kilos for the Eco 350. But many EVs and small cars only allow 50 to 75 kilos. Check your car's registration documents or owner's manual.

Can an EV tow the Eco 350?

Your car needs at least 1,000 kilos of braked towing capacity. You'll find it in field O.1 of your vehicle registration. According to ADAC, many EVs can now manage this. Some models, though, are only approved for towing a bike rack. At 2.00 meters wide and 2.45 meters tall, the Eco 350 is no aerodynamic marvel. Your EV's range will drop noticeably with it in tow. You can read more in our guide to the right tow vehicle.

What to look out for when buying

  • COC documents: Ask to see the COC certificate (Certificate of Conformity). It's proof that the caravan has EU type approval. For the Eco 350, this isn't documented on the website.

  • Warranty and service: The Turkish manufacturer advertises a two-year warranty. Clarify where in Germany maintenance and repairs are carried out and how you get spare parts.

  • Delivery time: According to the dealer's classified ad, "production is scheduled for spring 2027." There's no binding commitment on the website.

  • Get the specs in writing: Gas or electric stove? Heater standard or optional extra? This needs to be spelled out in the purchase contract.

  • Have it weighed: The actual unladen weight determines your available payload.

Verdict: Who's the Ankaravan Eco 350 for?

The Eco 350 suits families with two younger kids. You'll need a tow vehicle rated for at least 1,000 kg towing capacity and enough nose weight capacity. This small caravan is ideal for campsites with mains power hookup and for short trips. For €16,000, you get a lot of caravan packed into a short length.

For a three-week summer holiday with four people and full luggage, though, the payload is probably too tight.
