A fan heater is good if it is able to heat a room quickly and evenly. This is ensured by appropriate power and oscillation, in which the appliance rotates slowly and steadily from side to side. Type of heating

Ceramic heating technology has established itself in electric fan heaters, primarily because these appliances heat faster and more efficiently than conventional heaters. As the name suggests, the core of the appliance is made of ceramic materials.

Oscillation

With fan heaters, oscillation means that the device moves slowly back and forth, distributing the heat evenly throughout the room. You don't need this for spot heating, but if you want to heat the entire motorhome, you will need a fan heater with oscillation. The oscillation function should be able to be switched off for both even and selective heating.

Volume

The volume is relevant when people are in the same room and want to talk. If the fan heater produces an enormous noise level, this can quickly become very unpleasant. The appliance should not emit more than 57 dB so that you can hold conversations at a normal volume.

Power and power levels

Ideally, the appliance should have two power levels and an adjustable thermostat so that you can set the temperature individually. A typical fan heater usually has around 2,000 watts, although there are also appliances with significantly less power. However, these are usually only suitable for spot heating.

Additional functions

A fan heater with a timer function is recommended. As the appliance should not run continuously, e.g. all night, an adjustable timer function is useful so that the appliance switches itself off after the set time.

Fan heaters with a remote control, which you can use to set the temperature, power level or oscillation, are particularly convenient. Other important safety functions include overheating protection and an anti-kickback device, which switches the appliance off automatically as soon as it is no longer upright. Both functions prevent a fire caused by an unattended hot fan heater.

Dimensions and weight

If you are a camper and want to take the appliance with you when you travel, a small and lightweight fan heater is naturally a good choice. A carrying handle is also practical so that you can easily carry the appliance from A to B.
