Swiveling front seats in a motorhome usually aren't known for being cozy. And with the driver's cab at your back, the whole setup doesn't exactly scream homey either.
With the Cozy-Couch, that might be about to change: this mobile cushion upgrade turns your campervan seats into a relaxed cuddle sofa for chilling, chatting, reading, and even sleeping. We tried it out at caravan live in Freiburg.

How does the Cozy-Couch work?
The Cozy-Couch sits on top of both front seats and turns them into one continuous seating and sleeping surface with no gaps. During the day you sit on it like a sofa, and at night it becomes a sleeping spot.
For Fiat models, it measures 172 cm wide, 50 cm deep, and 7 cm high. It doesn't need any support legs, so you don't lose any storage space underneath. A backrest strap and a wooden bridge piece are included.
What really convinced me: the couch blocks off the cold cab area around your feet. The manufacturer shows thermal images with and without the couch, and the difference is clear. If you've ever traveled in a campervan in fall or winter, you know that cold draft coming from the front.
Quality you can see and feel
Every Cozy-Couch is handmade and custom-measured as an individual piece. You notice right away when you sit down that they haven't cut corners on materials. The foam gives gently without sagging. The manufacturer uses a special foam composite that's also used in heavy-duty applications like fire trucks. No wobbling, no edge digging into your back, no sinking feeling under your seat.
The cover fabrics feel hard-wearing and, according to the manufacturer, are easy to clean. For us, with a dog, that's a real deal-breaker. Our Zoe brings in everything that's lying around outside: sand, mud, dust, leaves, grass, dirt. Plus, her little claws aren't exactly gentle on fabric covers either. Materials that can't handle that don't last long with us or with a lot of other dog owners.
You pick the fabric and color of the covers yourself. The range currently goes from subtle natural and pastel tones to bold 70s-style vintage variants in orange, yellow, and green.

Made in Baden: a couch from the neighborhood
For me, though, one of the best things about the Cozy-Couch is its story. The couch comes from Rheinstetten near Karlsruhe, and that's where it stays until it's finished. The entire production happens in Germany, within a very small radius around Tom and Petra's location.
The upholstery work is done by a regional upholstery business in the Karlsruhe area. The covers are sewn by the two developers' daughter-in-law. It doesn't get much more of a family business than that.
I find that pretty remarkable. Even camping accessories today often come from low-cost manufacturing countries, frequently with trade-offs in quality, durability, and potentially harmful materials.
With Cozy-Couch, on the other hand, you know exactly who makes it. Short supply chains and craftsmanship also mean: personal advice instead of a chatbot, custom solutions instead of mass production, and a real contact person even after you've bought it.

My verdict
The Cozy-Couch isn't cheap. But you get a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece made in your fabric, in your color, by people from a region you can actually put a name to. For that, I think the price is fair.
If you want to make your campervan cozier and that cold draft from the front is bugging you, check it out. Best case, sit on it yourself. Or do what Zoe did and lie down for a quick siesta right away.
