With the new Apero Activ 465 GE, Fendt is expanding its youthful entry-level range with one of the most popular floor plans around: the classic twin-bed caravan for couples. The mix of modern design, comfort features and a comparatively compact size could hit the sweet spot for a lot of camping fans.

For a few years now, the Apero range has stood for Fendt's entry point into the premium world of caravanning – but without the often conservative look of classic caravan models. Instead, the manufacturer relies on modern colors, fresh design and a deliberately younger appeal.

For the 2027 season, the new Apero Activ 465 GE adds a floor plan that should appeal especially to couples: a caravan with two single beds in the rear, combined with a seating area at the front and a centrally positioned kitchen and bathroom.

It's hardly surprising that Fendt is adding exactly this floor plan. Twin beds have been one of the most popular layouts in the caravan segment for years. They offer easy getting in and out, allow for different sleeping habits, and on many models can be turned into one large sleeping area with an additional cushion.

More factory-fitted tech for three select models

The new 465 GE belongs, along with the 390 FH and 560 SKM models, to a trio within the range that Fendt is upgrading with an extended "Activ" standard package. This gives it a genuine technical edge over other models in the lineup.

Particularly interesting is the standard Truma Combi 4 gas heater with an integrated 10-liter hot water boiler. While many classic entry-level caravans still rely on gas heaters without central hot water production, the Apero 465 GE offers a level of comfort you'd normally expect from higher vehicle classes. Add to that the air circulation system and the digital CP Plus control panel, which makes operation considerably more convenient.

For campers who are frequently on the road in the shoulder seasons, this equipment is a genuine benefit and not just a marketing point.

Compressor instead of absorber: the 465 GE's special feature

Almost even more interesting is that Fendt is fitting this floor plan (along with the 390 FH and 560 SKM) with a standard 98-liter compressor fridge, while other Apero models continue to use flexible absorber fridges. The advantages of a compressor fridge are obvious:

  • better cooling performance at high outside temperatures

  • faster cooling down

  • fewer issues when parked at an angle

  • lower gas consumption

A compressor fridge really shows its strengths in midsummer or on trips to southern Europe. The downside: it needs a constant power supply. If you often camp off-grid, you should think about a sufficiently sized battery and ideally a solar system. For typical campsite users, though, this drawback is unlikely to matter much.

Modern design, inside and out

Visually, the Apero stays true to its style. Outside, blue accents and the automotive-style front and rear design with innovative LED edge-light taillights (the "glowing surface effect") give it a noticeably more modern look than many traditional mid-range caravans.

Inside, Fendt is introducing the new furniture finish Olmo Amico for the 2027 season. The three-tone wood look feels more contemporary and brighter than previous generations. It's paired with the new fabric collections "Brixen" and "Parma", both designed to feel homely rather than technical.

Standard equipment also includes:

  • dual USB-C sockets in the living and sleeping areas

  • dimmable reading lights

  • kitchen window with integrated sockets and switches

  • anthracite-colored fittings

  • sturdy pocket-spring mattresses in the single beds

  • practical entrance mat

The USB-C ports in particular show that Fendt really does have the younger target group in mind, not just going for a lifestyle look on the surface.

Compact enough for many tow vehicles

With a body length in the typical 465 class and an interior standing height of 1.98 meters, the new floor plan should suit many mid-range tow vehicles. That makes the Apero 465 GE especially appealing for couples who aren't ready to jump straight to large twin-axle rigs or six-meter family caravans. The combination of twin beds and manageable exterior dimensions has long been one of the most versatile compromises on the market.

Our take

With the Apero Activ 465 GE, Fendt fills a gap in the lineup that's stayed surprisingly open for a long time. Single beds are one of the most important floor plans in the European caravan market and fit perfectly with the modern positioning of the Apero.

What's especially convincing is the generous standard equipment, including a combi heater and compressor fridge, which brings this floor plan noticeably closer to higher-end model ranges.

The exciting question will ultimately be how it stacks up against established competitors: with a starting price of 31,050 euros, the new Apero is no longer in classic entry-level territory. In return, though, buyers get a caravan that already reaches surprisingly far into premium-class comfort and equipment.

FAQ about the Fendt Apero Activ 465 GE

Häufige Fragen

Is the Apero Activ 465 GE suitable for electric cars?

Generally, yes. This vehicle class fits well with many current electric SUVs and larger electric estate cars. That said, the actual towing capacity and its effect on range are what really matter.

What's behind the "Activ" package on the 465 GE?

Fendt equips three selected models in the range (390 FH, 465 GE and 560 SKM) with an exclusive tech package as standard. This includes the powerful Truma combi heater with hot water boiler, plus modern compressor fridges instead of the usual absorber fridges.

What are the advantages of single beds in a caravan?

Single beds make getting in and out easier without disturbing your partner, usually offer great access to storage space underneath, and can typically be joined together to form one large, continuous sleeping surface.
