Pickup owners know the problem well: modern pickups keep getting heavier, which shrinks the allowed payload. Add a demountable cabin on top, and you quickly hit the magic 3.5-tonne total weight limit. Tischer has come up with a clever solution for exactly this dilemma.
At last year's Caravan Salon 2026, Nele and Sebastian took a close look at the new Tischer Box 200 Superlight and were surprised by how much living comfort fits into such a compact space.

Lightweight construction with a system: 530 kg including the water tank
The name says it all: at just 530 kilograms — including a filled 50-liter fresh water tank — the Tischer Box 200 Superlight is one of the true lightweights among fully equipped demountable cabins.
As Nele and Sebastian explain, Tischer developed this cabin specifically for two scenarios: heavy modern pickups with limited payload (like the Dodge RAM), and the growing generation of electric and hybrid pickups, where every kilogram counts.
A clever design trick also adds flexibility: by skipping the side panels, the cabin fits onto almost any pickup with a load bed length of at least 1.50 m.
Surprisingly spacious: standing height and L-shaped seating area
Looking at the cabin from outside, you might expect a cramped living space. But step inside, and that impression changes fast: with 1.95 m of standing height, the Box 200 Superlight feels remarkably airy.
The generous alcove bed stands out in particular. With around 70 cm of headroom at its highest point and two large side windows, the alcove gets plenty of light and good ventilation. According to both CamperStyle hosts, two people can sleep here very comfortably.

One special feature is the layout: you enter from the rear through the shower area of the wet room. As a result, the seating area runs L-shaped along the alcove bed.
As Sebastian points out, up to four adults can sit here with the table extended — though it gets pretty cozy at that point. For a relaxed trip for two, though, the layout makes for a comfortable living area.
Full equipment in a compact space
Despite the focus on lightweight construction, you don't have to give up key comforts:
Kitchen: It comes with a two-burner gas cooker, a compressor fridge, and a surprisingly large sink (big enough, according to Nele, to fit a large spaghetti pot).
Wet room: The compact wet room houses a portable dry separating toilet from Trelino. The shower floor features a solid wooden grid insert that lets water drain away. A handy side effect: you can also set down dirty shoes here when entering, without getting the living area dirty.
Heating: The Truma CombiNeo 4E combi heater keeps things comfortable and runs on either gas or electricity. The system has two hot water modes: an economical Eco mode and a Power mode for fast heating.

Self-sufficiency and power supply as standard
When it comes to electrics, the Box 200 Superlight comes well-equipped straight from the factory: standard equipment includes a 100 Ah lithium battery, a 110-watt solar panel on the roof, and a triple charger with an integrated charge booster (30 A). This means the battery gets topped up quickly via the tow vehicle while you're driving – ideal if you change locations often and want to stay off-grid.
Storage: minimalism is the name of the game
For all its strengths, the compact design comes at a price: storage space is limited. There are overhead cabinets and a shelf unit, but no classic wardrobe with a hanging rail. Sebastian recommends wedging a telescopic rod into the shower to hang up wet jackets or extra clothing. There's also a narrow coat rack right at the entrance for your most essential items.
For longer trips, the rule is: pack minimally and do laundry along the way if needed. That makes the cabin a great match for active travelers who spend a lot of time outdoors and mainly use the cabin as a place to sleep and retreat to.
Price and verdict
The base price of the Tischer Box 200 Superlight is around 38,800 euros. With optional extras like a custom paint job plus the TÜV inspection and registration in the vehicle documents, the total price lands somewhere between 42,000 and 43,000 euros.
The Tischer Box 200 Superlight makes a strong case that lightweight construction doesn't have to mean doing without. If you're after a light, versatile living module for your pickup and you're willing to accept some compromises on storage, you'll find a well-thought-out solution here, complete with a full wet room, heating, and solar setup.
