Short, compact, maneuverable: The niche for small models is growing steadily in the caravan market. Yes, you could say that small caravans are in vogue. Some campers appreciate the comfort of driving a shorter trailer – even with a normal B driving license. Others live(d) minimalism, even when camping. For all those, the market offers a variety of small caravans that are particularly suitable for couples and single travelers. However, some providers also create space for families with children in the smallest of spaces.
Despite all the minimalism, however, many people do not want to do without the comfort of their own bathroom, however small it may be. That’s why in this article we present 10 small caravans with a bathroom, including a toilet and in some cases even a shower.

Advantages of small caravans and mini-caravans
As there is no clear definition of mini caravans or small caravans, we have set our dimensions for this article at up to 6 meters total length including drawbar (+ a maximum of a few centimetres).
The advantages of small caravans and therefore short trailers are manifold – here is a brief overview:
Low total weight: For a small caravan with a resulting lower weight, you also need less power for the towing vehicle. This means you can also hang a small car or even an electric car in front of your trailer – and use less fuel overall. ► Further details and information about towing vehicles for caravans
Driving with a B driving license: With a category B driving license, you can tow a trailer with a gross vehicle weight of up to 750 kilograms or drive a combination of less than 3.5 tons. With the extension of driving license category B to B96, the values increase: The trailer may weigh more than 750 kilograms and the combination may weigh up to 4.25 tons in total. ►Detailed information about the driving license for caravans and trailers
High flexibility: With a suitably small caravan, you are more flexible when driving, even on narrow, winding roads, when parking and on parking spaces, because you simply need less space. You can save money at some campsites, because if you are charged according to pitch size, you will pay less with your small caravan. For families with children who don’t want to do without the advantages of a small caravan but still need a little more space, a compact model offers additional flexibility. It can be attached to the camper van as an additional sleeping area, for example. If you need even more space, tents can also be used as additional sleeping areas.
Comfortable handling: The shorter the trailer, the better the overview – and maneuvering is often more comfortable. In general, handling is easier with a light, short caravan, as you can also push it into the desired position more easily instead of using a lot of force or technical aids such as a mover. You also need less space when looking for a shelter for the winter.
Acquisition costs: Smaller + lighter = cheaper? This calculation only works to a limited extent if you use models from the same manufacturer. There are certainly 5-meter-long caravans that offer extremely comfortable equipment and extensive technical refinements – so they can be more expensive than an 8-meter entry-level model from another manufacturer, even at the basic price. It therefore depends on what you require in terms of additional features and material quality.
