The SpaceCamper Roof, an innovative combination of roof tent, pop-up roof and high roof, will be unveiled at the Caravan Salon 2024. Developed by Markus Riese, founder of SpaceCamper and Riese & Müller, the SpaceCamper Roof offers a number of advantages that were previously unavailable on the camping market.
The SpaceCamper Roof makes it possible to travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h with the roof open. It offers a bed and a walk-in closet that are always ready to go without conversion. The look of the roof may take some getting used to at first glance, but the innovations it offers are unique.

A special feature of the SpaceCamper Roof is the direct access through the generous roof hatch of the VW New Multivan. This means that you don’t have to get out of the vehicle to get into the roof tent when it rains. The standing height remains the same over the entire size of the roof hatch, even if two people are already lying in the bed upstairs.

The roof can be completely packed and loaded with a made-up bed and clothes in the cupboards so that nothing needs to be changed on the journey. When open, the roof reaches a height of 2.6 meters. The roof can simply be closed for faster journeys or to get below the 2-meter limit when driving. It can be completely removed in winter.
The bed in the roof has a sleeping area of 1.4 m x 2 m and is arranged transversely so that the roof hatch opening is not obstructed. This creates a walk-in closet with spacious cupboards at chest height, which are easily accessible when standing up. This keeps the lower part of the vehicle tidy at all times, and luggage or sports equipment can also be stored on the bed.

The SpaceCamper Roof has an extra width that acts like a small awning and prevents water from getting into the car via the sliding door when it rains. It is fully insulated and therefore extremely suitable for winter.
Two-layer fabric with additional insulation in the space between and sandwich panels ensure a pleasant indoor climate. All sides of the roof can be opened, and an opening skylight offers a clear view of the starry sky.

The SpaceCamper Roof differs from a conventional roof tent in that the headroom in the car and direct access from inside the vehicle to the roof are retained even when the bed is set up. It is more homely thanks to large roof windows, cupboards and insulation and allows you to drive with the roof open.
Compared to a fixed high roof, the SpaceCamper Roof can be completely removed in winter and allows you to stay below the 2-meter mark with the roof in place, which enables low toll and ferry fares. On site, the roof remains in place while you travel around.

In contrast to a pop-top roof, there is less to move around and the headroom below remains fully accessible, even if you are already sleeping upstairs. Large cupboards and the option of driving with the roof open are further advantages.
