Do you dream of a caravan you can pack away neatly at the end of every season? Then you need to check out this system: the Tail Feather Camper from US company Teal International is made up of modules and can be mounted on a standard trailer or pickup bed in under 90 minutes, and expanded with extra modules whenever you need them.
As is so often the case with great ideas, the "puzzle camper" concept was born out of necessity: inventor Lawrence Drake wanted to go camping in the Rocky Mountains with his daughter and her family, but his small SUV could only tow a maximum of 455 kilograms - and voilà, the Tail Feather Camper was born!
The base version (including trailer) falls exactly into that weight class. The interior can also be configured in a modular way: bench seats, a table, a bed, cupboards, a small sink, and even a compact hanging wardrobe can be combined individually depending on your needs and your tow vehicle's approved towing capacity. There's no toilet or other "luxury extras" on board, for the sake of keeping the weight down.

In January of this year, the family business temporarily paused production of the Tail Feather Camper to regroup with sponsors and partners. Going forward, one of their main focuses will be building modular small houses, which could serve, among other things, as shelter after natural disasters or in crisis situations.
