Picture this: you're standing by a crystal-clear mountain lake after a long hike. The air is crisp, the scenery breathtaking – and all you want is a hot sauna. That exact longing is what led to the creation of Runa's mobile tent sauna.
At the last caravan live show in Freiburg, Nele talked to developer Andreas and got him to explain exactly how a sauna inside a tent works without the material melting or catching fire.

From a guys' trip idea to a well-thought-out product
The Runa tent sauna's origin story couldn't be more down-to-earth: during a guys' trip to the mountains, the group sat by an idyllic mountain lake and wondered how they could possibly sauna in a spot like that. The only mobile solution: a specially designed tent. What started as a spontaneous idea grew into a fully developed product for outdoor enthusiasts.
The tent sauna can handle extreme conditions. One customer even took it all the way to the North Cape and still reached 100 °C inside at an outside temperature of –20 °C. It's fully usable year-round. On top of that, you don't need a building permit to set up the mobile sauna.
Extremely heat-resistant and weatherproof
To make sure the material can handle high temperatures and tough weather, Runa's CUBE model uses a three-layer Oxford 300D fabric. It's temperature-resistant and offers reliable rain protection with a water column of 2,000 mm.
A specially integrated cotton insulation provides the necessary warmth retention, keeping the heat inside even during winter frost. The structure is held up by sturdy fiberglass tent poles designed for long-term use.
Compact pack size, spacious interior
For mobile setups, size and weight are key:
Tent: 21 kg (packed size: 130 cm × 40 cm × 25 cm)
Sauna stove: 30 kg (dimensions: 61 cm × 26.5 cm × 57.5 cm)
Total weight: Including accessories like the sauna stones (20 kg) and benches, the whole set weighs around 70 kg.
Although the floor space is a compact 1.80 m × 1.80 m once set up, the tent's cubic shape widens toward the top to a total size of 2.30 m × 2.30 m. With a standing height of 1.95 m, even tall people can stand comfortably inside. The interior comfortably fits four to five people.

Quick setup and self-sufficient operation
Thanks to a handy pop-up function, setup is simple and can easily be done by one person alone, without instructions. The stovepipe consists of seven plug-in sections that are stored inside the stove itself for transport, saving space. Setting up the entire system takes roughly 10 minutes.
It runs completely self-sufficiently on wood. After just under half an hour of heating, the sauna already reaches temperatures of 80 to over 100 °C. The included stone basket holds 20 kg of sauna stones, which store heat and make classic löyly with essential oils possible.
Equipment & packages at a glance
Whether you're just starting out or want the full setup, Runa offers various packages. The starter set costs 1,849 euros, while a complete set including wooden benches and other accessories runs around 2,050 euros. At trade shows like Caravan Live in Freiburg, expanded promotional packages with benches, a weather-protection hood, and sauna ponchos have also been available in the past.
The CUBE Starter Set includes the following accessories:
Tent sauna including carrying bag
Removable tent floor
Sauna stove 2.0 including carrying bag
Stone basket & 20 kg of sauna stones
Löyly set (bucket and ladle)
Put to the test in cold and rain
The concept proved itself under tough conditions right there at the show: on a cold, rainy evening, exhibitors used the tent sauna after a barbecue get-together and confirmed it delivers a genuine outdoor wellness experience.
Conclusion
The Runa CUBE tent sauna brings an authentic sauna experience to any location you like. Thanks to its simple handling, sturdy materials and high heat output, it's perfect for camping trips, outings to the lake or your own backyard.
