The idea for CamperStyle was born in August 2014, when Nele and Jalil were on a six-month sabbatical, traveling through Europe with their caravan as absolute beginners and looking – often in vain – for information about their new camper life. One morning, in the middle of the Basque Country, they had a flash of inspiration: “Why don’t we start our own platform for people like us?”
CamperStyle was launched in January 2015, initially as a small blog that the two of them ran alongside their regular jobs. But it quickly became clear that this could not continue. The readership grew by leaps and bounds from month to month, the first partners came knocking and Nele and Jalil wanted one thing above all else: to explore the world and work from the road.
So they quit their jobs and needed support. Tanja and Nima were the first authors on board, followed shortly afterwards by Stefanie and Sebastian as experts in online marketing, social media and technology. The rest is history. Today, with almost 2,000 published articles, over one million visitors per month, a podcast, its own book and a strong social media community, CamperStyle is one of the largest online camping magazines in the German-speaking world.
Behind this is a strong and committed team, in which each member contributes their own special skills, interests, preferences, experience and areas of knowledge. This enables us to create varied, colorful and helpful content for camping enthusiasts every day, covering (almost) every area of the huge field of “camping”.
Below you can find out more about the people who make CamperStyle what it is.
Nele & Jalil

Nele and Jalil Landero Flores are journalists, video producers and photographers, as well as travel enthusiasts, backpackers and, above all, passionate campers!
They took their caravan on road trips through 25 European countries and were on the road for almost four years. Once you have experienced the freedom of being completely untethered and sometimes even aimless as you roam the country in a camper, you will never let go. However, the dream of living and working on the road has not only taken them to beautiful places, but has also presented them with many challenges.
They are now sharing this knowledge and the valuable experience they have gained on their travels with the CamperStyle community. Whether it’s tips on technology and traveling in a caravan, great campsites, useful camping products, checklists for beginners, camping hacks or camping with a dog – Nele and Jalil are real (cara)van lifers.
Speaking of dogs: Zoe, a cheeky little Parson Russell terrier, has been part of their camper family since October 2016. She may look like a soft toy, but when it comes to puddles, molehills, sand and waves, there’s no stopping her. It’s not for nothing that she’s nicknamed the “mud princess”.
You can find out more about CamperStyle and the three of them on Facebook, Instagram and in the Facebook beginners’ group.
Stefanie & Sebastian

Stefanie and Sebastian Vogt have over 20 years of combined experience as entrepreneurs in online marketing. Starting out as typical nerds, they discovered traveling at some point – and their first motorhome came about “by accident”, so to speak. But that’s a story all of its own…
In any case, the advantages of working from anywhere intensified their wanderlust to such an extent that they lived in a motorhome for almost six years. At the beginning of 2016, herd protection “doggie” Chief joined them in Portugal, whose job is to guard and charm them – according to the motto: if you can’t drive them away, wrap them around your finger. In the following years, also unplanned, herd guardian Inge and terrier mongrel Pepper joined us, which slowed down the restless traveling life for the time being. Now with three dogs, Stefanie and Sebastian have settled down on a pretty property in Portugal and regularly set off on short camping trips from there.
However, their passion for the camper lifestyle remains unbroken. The two bring their combined expertise to the technical and strategic development of CamperStyle and enrich the content with all kinds of interesting facts about living and working on four wheels. They are particularly interested in topics such as self-sufficiency, technology and digitalization in motorhomes, internet solutions for on the road and practical gadgets.
Our editorial team
Sandra

Sandra is our “all-purpose weapon” and Nele’s right-hand woman: as editorial assistant, she organizes and maintains the CamperStyle editorial plan, develops new topic ideas together with us, coordinates our authors, corrects typos in our articles, moderates our beginner’s camping group on Facebook and provides our social media channels with fresh content.
Of course, she is also an enthusiastic camper and takes every opportunity to travel with her husband and two daughters in a caravan – preferably to Catalonia, where she used to live for a while.
Katya

Freelance journalist, freelance editor and freedom-loving camper. After deciding to leave the business world she was working in at the time to devote herself entirely to her passion – the written word – she went back to university and then set up her own business as a journalist and editor. She prefers to spend a lot of time on the road in her motorhome, where she draws her energy for everyday life from nature.
As a trained technology journalist, she enjoys explaining the world of technology in and around motorhomes to our readers. However, she also enjoys writing about products and accessories for the camper lifestyle as well as different travel destinations – she knows her way around her favorite country, Norway, as well as Sweden, Finland and the south of France.
She is not only familiar with the world of camping from theory; as a long-term traveler, she can draw on practical experience. She therefore knows that it can make sense to dismantle small parts yourself first instead of going straight to the workshop – and that mobile campers sometimes have to climb onto the roof to send an email.

Justyna
Justyna, our working student, combines her passion for philosophy and law with writing concise and informative articles for our camping magazine. Her academic background enables her to conduct meticulous research and analytical thinking, which is reflected in her news articles and vehicle presentations. She investigates topics thoroughly and presents facts clearly and comprehensibly.
Away from her desk, Justyna shares her love of camping with her two faithful dogs. She enjoys spending her free time in nature, exploring hiking trails and camping in the open air. These experiences give her a deep understanding of the needs and desires of our camping community.
Inspired by her enthusiasm for camping, Justyna is planning an exciting trip through Europe after her studies. She is still looking for the ideal campervan to travel independently and comfortably. Her continued curiosity and interest in the camping life makes her an excellent resource for all campers looking for inspiration and information.
Hubert

Hubert began his “camping career” with a tent and rucksack. Whether surfing on Lake Garda or crossing Corsica from east to west, he was often on the road in the Mediterranean region. This was followed by a few years with a VW Bulli he had converted himself, then several years with motorhomes, with France and Italy being his preferred destinations. All types of motorhome were represented, from panel vans to luxurious integrated vehicles. For some years now, he has been traveling with SUVs and caravans, because today he and his wife and dog appreciate the comfort of a campsite with local mobility.
His professional career has taken him into the publishing industry and he has been working as a journalist for various online platforms in the industry and trade fair sector for many years.
He also provides text and image contributions for weekly newspapers, regional magazines and a travel guide publisher.
With his articles for Camperstyle, the most versatile platform for campers in his opinion, he combines his hobby and profession.
With his many years of experience, he is interested in all topics relating to camping.
He is just as enthusiastic about technology as he is about maintaining the value and care of vehicles and travel tips, especially from Germany and France.

Barbara

Barbara has been writing articles for CamperStyle since 2018. Before moving to Normandy with her husband and dogs, she worked as a full-time journalist for a daily newspaper. Here in Normandy, she earns baguettes and dog food as a copywriter, journalist and (dog) photographer. She runs an information portal for dog vacationers and has written a crime novel that is also set in Normandy. In addition to writing and photography, she enjoys hiking, nature, archery and, of course, her two dogs. She shows vacationers the beautiful Normandy or tasty herbs for the kitchen.
She was infected with the camping virus at an early age – as a teenager at a tent camp that was drowned in rain, mud and hail. Since then, she has been on the road in everything from a tent to a box duck, a van (which she still misses), a caravan and now a tent or minicamper. Barbara’s special topics include camping in France and Germany and camping with a dog.
You can find great vacation tips from Barbara for a vacation with your dog in Normandy here: www.chiennormandie.de
You can also follow Barbara on Facebook and Instagram.
Tanja

Tanja loves traveling, nature and road trips in a motorhome. She has been traveling with rental motorhomes or the family camper for more than 10 years. When her sugar-sweet daughter Milana came into Tanja’s life in 2016, it was the perfect occasion to go straight on a parental leave trip. In a motorhome too, of course!
That’s why Tanja is our expert for traveling with children, but also for her absolute favorite regions: Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Canada and New Zealand, Austria and the mountains, where she explores the scenic diversity extensively by camper, captures it in great photos and brings back lots of tips and impressions for our readers.
Tanja also combines her love of travel and writing on her own blog Taklyontour.de. There you will find numerous travel tips, experience reports and tour suggestions. She also runs the platform Familienreisefieber.de, where non-campers with children can find inspiration for excursions, hikes, trips, short breaks and leisure activities.
Nima

Nima didn’t catch camping fever until she was 38, but it hit her with full force. Since 2015, she has been living full-time with her boyfriend and two dogs in a vintage bus called “Horst”. The four of them have been touring southern Europe in it, including Greece for a long time. But Nima has also explored Spain for several years.
In addition to her enthusiasm for camping, her heart beats for outdoor activities such as climbing or hiking and for dogs. Street dogs are particularly important to her. As a qualified dog trainer, relaxation educator and systemic coach, she works online with human-dog teams. In doing so, she supports her clients in mastering everyday challenges calmly.
Her focus at CamperStyle is on outdoor activities, traveling with dogs and camping in Greece. Thanks to her knowledge of Greek, she has excellent contacts with the locals and is familiar with the customs of the country, especially with regard to camping and traveling with four-legged friends.
You can also find Nima on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Stefan

Stefan is a trained humanities scholar. The separation of work and private life has never particularly suited him. Coupled with his desire for freedom, he therefore seems perfectly suited to a life as a professional vacationer. He has been working as a freelance journalist, graphic designer, web developer and publisher for over 20 years. Motorhomes have always been a dream for him.
With them, you can simply set off and be on the road to find a piece of happiness. He has been traveling and describing the DACH region for around twenty years in order to pass on his knowledge. Landscapes are important to him, as they have a significant impact on people and their way of life. He prefers to use motorhomes for his explorations.
Two years ago, a childhood dream came true for him when a small vintage camper van fell into his hands by chance. However, he restores it more often than he drives it, as he has also been testing new motorhomes for ten years, which he also uses for his research. His other favorite topics are culture and cuisine, which Stefan reports on independently for camping enthusiasts in several European media.
Stefan runs his own blog, tourstory.de, and you can also follow him on Instagram or Facebook.
Anahita

Anahita is actually a lawyer and works in a government agency. In real life, however, she travels around Europe with her camper, her boyfriend Felix and Fahri, the world’s greatest dog. She enjoys her almost barrier-free microcosm and ends up writing about it. Anahita’s wheelchair is also always in her luggage.
She is therefore familiar with the obstacles in the camper and the challenges of finding a campsite, and she has many stories to tell about her encounters with fellow campers and campsite operators. These encounters are sometimes bizarre, sometimes sad and sometimes wonderful.
At first, Anahita thought it was impossible to camp with a handicap. But as it turned out, it wasn’t at all. With a lot of “I-want-to-but”, a lot of creativity, a lot of perseverance and little tolerance for “can’t”, she embarked on this adventure a few years ago and is now determined to inspire many more people with disabilities to go camping.
Because only if there are enough “handi-campers” can the camping world finally become more barrier-free!
Geraldine

Geraldine was born to be on the road – she grew up in a camper van. On her many journeys alone through the Middle East and Far East, she got to know contrasting worlds and, in addition to studying geography and ethnology, embarked on a circus education course.
She then toured Europe as a street performer with clowning, acrobatics and juggling in an old “circus bus”. She recently bought an old Mercedes “slow bus” – her own conversion project and a new home for living, traveling and writing.
Writing accompanied her through all the turbulent and reassuring times – whether for the newspaper, her own book (in progress) or for the blogging world.
There is always something to report and stories happen to be told.
Alexandra

Alexandra, known as Ali, discovered her love of camping and traveling close to nature by chance a few years ago. She and her husband bought a Landrover Defender “Dulli” for a vacation in Norway, which has since become a much-loved family member and a real motorhome thanks to many conversions.
After many more vacations in Europe, the two were finally infected with the travel and camping virus and decided to embark on a longer trip to more exotic terrain. In October 2016, they finally set off on their first long-term trip across Latin America.
In addition to CamperStyle, Ali writes about her experiences for her blog dulliexploring.com.
Tim

Tim is a freedom-loving travel enthusiast from the north of Germany who is always looking for adventure! He works seasonally in Swiss mountain gastronomy and finances his relatively minimalist life this way.
Since late summer 2017, he has been living with his girlfriend and companion Lola in a 25-year-old Mercedes T1 Bremer and exploring the world on a shoestring and without paying any rent. His Jack Russell dog “Lucy” is also a permanent member of his “Explorer Team”. She has been a passionate travel dog from day one and loves to explore new surroundings.
When Tim isn’t on a photo tour through the undergrowth with Lucy or recording his experiences in writing, he likes to play the guitar, draw abstract pictures or read a book – perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
Steffi

Steffi earns her money by writing and then spends it on traveling. She has now traveled to more than twenty European countries – from Nordkapp to Morocco, from Luxembourg to Poland. Most of them by camper van or motorhome.
Her parents had a VW bus from an early age and practically put her love of traveling right into her cradle – or rather into the back seat.
She thinks the freedom to change places when you want or to stay when you like it is great. In Scandinavia in particular, she has experienced areas where she hasn’t met another person for days.
She enjoys being out in nature and likes cycling and kayaking tours. In contrast, she also loves city breaks. San Sebastian and Lisbon are at the top of her list of the most beautiful cities. Since 2013, she has also discovered diving for herself. Also a form of freedom…
