Warm rolls for breakfast, freshly baked cake with coffee – we campers know the word “renunciation” only too well. Of course, doing without doesn’t always have to be negative. But when camping, waking up in the morning to the smell of freshly baked bread from your own oven is simply divine. However, very few campers have an oven that allows them this luxury. That’s why the Swedes had a great idea: they invented an oven for the gas cooker. The OMNIA SWEDEN, or “Omnia” for short. What exactly can this compact camping oven do? Can it be recommended and what dishes can be prepared in it? You can find out all this and more now.

What exactly is the Omnia?
The design of the Omnia is reminiscent of a gugelhupf shape, which is closed with a lid. It is delivered in a practical bag so that it can be easily stored with all its equipment.
The equipment includes:
- the three-part oven
- a silicone baking tin for cakes
- a rack for baking bread rolls
- a small book with suggestions for different dishes
[apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B07SLBQPG4″ tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″] You can also order the whole thing in a savings set without the silicone baking tin, rack and cookbook, which is then about 45 € cheaper. But then you pay more later if you still want to buy the bun rack and the silicone mould, which many people do. The great thing about the Omnia is that it is ready to use in just a few steps. Just screw on the lid knob and you’re ready to go. Like many camping utensils, this pot is made of aluminium. This makes it light in weight, while at the same time guaranteeing fast cooking. If the aluminium bothers you because of health concerns, you can put the silicone mould inside. Otherwise, the workmanship is simple and neat. The Omnia is not dangerous, but it does get very hot. Therefore, it should only be used by people over the age of 12. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B06XCHZNXM” tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
How does the Omnia oven work?
You can use the Omnia oven on open flames, e.g. on gas, paraffin or spirit cookers, but also on a normal hob and even on a grill. Only on induction hobs may the OMNIA not work. Attention with ceramic hobs: Only the Omnia with the silver stainless steel base can be used on a ceramic hob. The version with the enamelled black base can cause scratches on the ceramic hob.

And this is how the Omnia works:
The three-part system creates bottom and top heat simultaneously when cooking: the bottom heat by placing the flame on the cooker and the top heat through the hole in the middle and the special lid. This way, the bread, cake or pizza will turn out just like you know it from the oven. The Omnia oven is very energy-efficient and can be cleaned quickly and easily. Residues are easily removed with a little dishwashing liquid and a brush or sponge, but small burnt-in discolourations remain. However, this is only a visual shortcoming that does not affect the functioning of the Omnia. With more vigorous scrubbing and more aggressive scouring agents, you might get rid of them, but the question is whether this effort is worth it. Since the Omnia is made of aluminium, the oven should not be put in the dishwasher! Tip: If something does burn on, fill the Omnia with a little hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid and leave it to stand for a while before cleaning.
Useful accessories for the Omnia
The basic equipment of the Omnia oven can be extended with a few things that make cooking and baking easier. Here you will find an overview of the matching accessories:
Baking rack
To prevent your rolls from lying directly on the hot floor of the Omnia and possibly burning, there is this baking rack. You simply put it in and place your rolls on top. The grid is also practical for baking muffins, croissants or stuffed vegetables, for example. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B088CMTRM8″ tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
Silicone mould
If you haven’t already bought it as part of the set, you can also order the silicone mould separately. It has the advantage that nothing burns and it is easy to clean afterwards. It is also food-safe and heat-resistant up to 260 degrees. The silicone mould is practical for some dishes, but also for those who don’t like to prepare their food directly in an aluminium pot. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B07KGJRQ3M” tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
Plastic holding tongs
Since the Omnia gets really hot, you can only touch it with appropriate precautions, for example these plastic holding tongs. Unlike metal tongs, they do not transmit heat. They are designed to fit the shape of the Omnia well and not bend it. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B084Z6HY2Y” tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
Thermometer
Since the Omnia does not have a built-in thermometer, it is difficult to estimate the current temperature. You can easily remedy this with a thermometer. This allows you to read the temperature at any time and adjust it if necessary. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B00I0WH878″ tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
Silicone potholders
Silicone pot holders are an alternative to tongs. Unlike fabric pot holders, they are easy to remove food residues. More importantly, however, they are heat-resistant and therefore provide excellent protection against burns. Another advantage is that they are non-slip, so you can hold the Omnia safely in your hands. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B08CKK468F” tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
Baking paper
Although there is no baking paper that is already cut to size for the Omnia, you can easily make it yourself with a few simple steps. Recyclable baking paper, which is more robust than conventional paper, is a good choice. You only have to make the effort to cut it once and then you can use it again and again. [apn typ=”template” template=”tpl-2″ asin=”B0716YSW27″ tpl-infobox=”true” tpl-buttontpl=”1″ false=”” tag=”cs-omnia-test-21″]
Silicone baking tin for muffins
Whether a muffin tin is really necessary or not depends on your culinary preferences. If a life without muffins is unimaginable for you, this mould certainly makes sense. For occasional bakers, the baking rack on which you can place standard muffin tins will probably suffice. Recipe ideas for the Omnia camping oven
The entire Camperstyle editorial team is enthusiastic about this practical gas oven. That’s why we’d like to share a few recipes with you, so you can get a better idea of the many possibilities it offers. You can bake both sweet and savoury dishes in the Omnia. So you don’t have to miss out on delicious cakes, fresh bread, casseroles or pizza when you’re camping. Sometimes there are noodles or potatoes left over from the day before, which can be used to make a new dish. A pizza may look more like a calzone, but it tastes just as good. Click here for a recipe suggestion for pizza in a camper van. If you would like to have delicious smelling bread rolls or croissants for breakfast, this is also possible. You can use ready-made products, such as baked rolls or baking mixes, or make the dough yourself. There are no limits to your imagination. For cake lovers, I recommend this simple and easy chocolate cake, which you can adapt as you like. Add a little cinnamon for a Christmas touch, and a few nuts to make it a little more al dente. Also delicious are these apple roses, for which you need just five ingredients. Rolling up the little cakes requires a bit of dexterity, which pays off later with their pretty appearance. For something a little more southern, try this recipe for a Greek-style vegetable casserole, where all the ingredients are cooked together in the Omnia without being boiled or sautéed. Add a slice of fresh bread and the meal is perfect. You can find more great recipes for the Omnia on these pages:
- 4 tyres, 1 toilet Faltenbrot, Spekulatiuskuchen, Laugenkranz or Toskanisches Huhn (Tuscan Chicken) are just a few of the many recipes whose precise descriptions make you want to cook them right away.

The Omnia camping oven tested in everyday use
As already mentioned above, the whole editorial team is enthusiastic about this practical gas oven. Neither I nor the other members of the CamperStyle editorial team want to withhold our experiences from you.
Baking bread in the Omnia – my first attempt – Katja
I used a normal bread dough. It is essential to coat the tin with oil and then sprinkle with breadcrumbs, because then the bread comes out of the tin better. All in all, it worked pretty well. The manufacturer advises baking at a low heat, otherwise the dough burns too quickly. It takes longer than in a normal oven, but the result is the same: fresh smelling bread. I’ll be testing more treats soon and will report back on my results.
Tip: Do not cut the bread from the Omnia into small slices like a cake. Instead, you can cut large slices like a normal loaf. As if the hole wasn’t in it. This way you get many more large slices.
The Omnia in everyday use – Stefanie and Sebastian
We’ve had the Omnia in our motorhome pretty much from the start – so over two years now. In the beginning, we only used it for casseroles and baking fresh bread. As Katja has already written, sometimes small discolourations remain, but they don’t detract from the function of the camping oven. In the meantime, we also like to use it to bake bread rolls. Thanks to the top and bottom heat, this works wonderfully and no closed bakery stands in the way of our Sunday breakfast.
Conclusion of the Omnia oven test
The Omnia oven is definitely a useful item that opens up a whole world of delicious dishes, even when camping. It’s perfect for anyone who loves to bake or cook, but also for all those campers who want to enrich their breakfast with freshly baked rolls. In the Omnia, you bake your favourite dishes just as deliciously and easily as in your home oven. With Christmas just around the corner, it’s an ideal gift where you can try out the traditional Christmas stollen right away. You can find a recipe for it at Kochen-und-backen-im-wohnmobil.de.
